Halle Sophia Gifts began with a simple idea, and slowly grew into a dream come true.

Around Christmas in 2017, my husband and I gathered supplies to make sock snowmen with the kids as a fun and festive family activity. You’ve probably seen them before — socks stuffed with rice, ribbon tied around the center to create the snowman body, tiny hats made from socks, and decorations like bells and buttons to bring them to life. After creating a dozen different snowman designs, we found ourselves wondering, “Would people buy these?” They were adorable, unique, and customizable for every occasion, and before long, something inside me began to grow: the dream of building something of my own.

At the time, I was working tirelessly for another small business — managing orders, shipping products, and helping run a ceramics studio. Although I wasn’t creating the pieces by hand myself, I spent nearly three years immersed in the creative process, watching products come to life and learning the behind-the-scenes work that goes into building a brand. Without realizing it at the time, that experience was quietly planting a seed.

I’ve always been a worker bee, but deep down I knew I wanted to create something where my hard work could help build a future for my own family. What started with handmade sock snowmen slowly evolved into something bigger: a growing passion for design, creativity, and eventually creating my own handmade ceramic pieces.

My husband believed in me before I fully believed in myself. He graciously invested $15K to help me get started, and with that, I bought a kiln, gathered supplies and transformed our garage into a small studio. Our kids were just 5 and 8 years old at the time, so life was busy and messy, but exciting.

The name Halle Sophia comes from our daughter’s name. I’ve always loved fashion and design, and from the moment we picked out her name, I remember thinking it sounded like the perfect name for a clothing or lifestyle brand. Years later, when I started building the business, naming it Halle Sophia just felt right. 

The first year was filled with experimentation. I spent countless hours testing ideas and figuring out what I wanted to create. I listed everything on Etsy, determined to reach 100 listings after reading somewhere that “100 items helps generate sales.” Many of the products that started gaining traction were inspired by family, friends, holidays, and the meaningful moments that brought us together—something that continues to shape our designs today.

Every year has brought new challenges, lessons, growth, and opportunities — both in business and personally. Some years exceed our expectations, while others push us outside our comfort zone. When sales slow, it challenges us to grow in new ways. This year we started selling wholesale through Faire, we launched our website, and we're working toward getting our products into local shops around the community. 

We hope our story reminds you that dreams don’t have to start big to become something beautiful. Every expert was once a beginner who didn’t give up, and sometimes the smallest ideas grow into the most meaningful journeys with a little faith and perseverance.
